Pet Tips...What to do???

  • To help sick, injured or homeless animals:
Call the KCHA  (Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association) during business hours at (304) 342-1576  After business hours call (304) 347-0800  Any other time, contact your local Police Department,  and they will contact and take appropriate action.
  • If you find a lost animal:
Call the Shelter and leave all the information you can and they will respond during business hours.
  • If you lose an animal:
It's best to visit the our shelter or shelters near you and look for your pet. If you do not find your pet, put in a missing animal report while you are there. You can make flyers and post them about 1 mile radius from point last seen; a photo may be helpful. Talk to your friends and neighbors. Above all don't give up!!!.
Sometimes people find a pet and keep them for weeks before reporting them.
  • To prevent your pets from being lost:
Be sure to license your pet and make sure they are wearing I.D. tags and licenses. Keep in a secure yard. There is information on cat confinement measures available at the shelter.
